What is your role at MGroup™?

GH: My role at MGroup™ is to review, evaluate, and revise contracts to ensure the accuracy of contract materials and values, ensure equitable contract language, and mitigate risk for the company. I also research legal issues that relate to the hospitality industry.

How did you end up working with MGroup™?

GH: I was happily working as a paralegal in a law office, loving my job, and planning to stay until I retired. Then, one fateful day, my attorney sat down in my office and told me he was closing his practice and moving to Romania for a year. I didn’t see that coming! My husband and I started praying and I started searching for a job that would bring me as much challenge, fulfillment, and joy as my current one; one that would be just the right fit. I heard the news through the local attorney grapevine that MGroup™ was looking for a Contracts Administrator. I applied for the position, interviewed with Ashley Anderson and Wendy Padgett, and believed I had found the right fit.

How long have you been with MGroup™?

GH: I have been with MGroup™ for 5 ½ years.

What do you enjoy most about working for MGroup™?

GH: I enjoy the camaraderie of the MGroup™ family. We are supportive of each other and genuinely care about one another. I enjoy the challenge of analyzing a particularly difficult contract, strategizing to attenuate the risks, and negotiating with the client to reach mutually acceptable terms.

What is your experience and background in the industry?

GH: When I joined MGroup™ I was new to the hospitality industry. Through researching the field and lengthy conversations with my coworkers, I learned about the company and the industry. It has been gratifying to watch MGroup grow by leaps and bounds over the last few years while facing extraordinary challenges in the quartz market, supply chain, and global shipping industry.

What are the values that drive you?

GH: Honesty, integrity, perseverance, and kindness are right at the top of my list of values.

What is the most interesting thing you’ve done while at MGroup™ or something that was the most memorable about working at MGroup™?

GH: One very memorable episode that sticks out in my mind, is a call Cliff Frana and I had with one of his clients. Cliff was the sales rep for the order and wanted me to explain to the client why I had made so many revisions to his contract terms. This was before the client would even agree to negotiate terms. At the beginning of the call, the client was hostile and told me I had “butchered and bloodied” his contract and that he was not planning to accept any of my revisions. I calmly and kindly explained each and every strike and change that I had made. At the end of the call, the client was friendly and agreeable to almost all of my changes saying he understood my reasoning and that he would move forward with the order.
